What are You Doing this Summer?
2017 Summer P.L.U.S. Institute applications are now being accepted!
The Science P.L.U.S. Institute is funded by an Education Improvement Act grant, and was written specifically for Roper Mountain Science Center to educate the state’s public school science teachers in hands-on activities for the classroom and to give teachers the needed materials to teach those activities.
The summer Institute is presented in a one-week, grade-specific, one-subject format. The hands-on classes emphasize the South Carolina Science Academic Standards, science process skills, and inquiry-based instruction.
Participants in this amazing opportunity receive:
· Over $750 in FREE materials for their classrooms!
· FREE lesson plans!
· FREE housing! (For participants who live an hour or more from the center.)
· FREE lunch!
· Networking with teachers from around the state
· 30 hours towards recertification with the option to obtain 2 graduate credits through Furman University
Please consider applying to the institute and encouraging others in your school and district to do so as well!
If you aren’t accepted don’t be discouraged! Over 45% of our alternates were placed last year!
