History
Palmetto State Teachers Association was organized in 1976 to give teachers in South Carolina a choice. We are an independent statewide professional association for South Carolina.
Mission Statement
Our Statement of Educational Professionalism says that the teacher's first duty is to the child and that every student has the right to a quality education, free from strikes and other work stoppage tactics.
We advocate the following:
 that the control of the schools should remain in the hands of the local elected school boards.
opposition to collective bargaining as it pits teachers against administrators and is not in the best interest of the students.
that educators should have the right to join a professional association without being forced to join a national labor union.
